uPlayer – Uses of different embed codes

There are a range of different embed codes in uPlayer, which are explained below. For instructions how to embed content from uPlayer in webpages and MOLE, see the Embedding Media page.

iFrame

This is the default embed code which will enable playback on most devices and browsers, including those that are unable to run Flash.

  1. Go to the page for an individual item of media. The default embed code will be displayed in the Copy Code box to the right of the item.
  2. Copy the contents of the Copy Code box and paste into your HTML editor.
Javascript ‘Modes’

This is the embed code to use when your content is delivered via MOLE courses.

  1. Go to the page for an individual item of media. The default embed code will be displayed in the Copy Code box to the right of the item.
  2. Click the checkbox labeled Use Javascript ‘Modes’ Embed Code. A new embed code will be generated.
  3. Copy the contents of the Copy Code box and paste into your HTML editor.

It is possible to combine different settings for embed codes by choosing multiple options on this page. For example, you could generate a javascript ‘modes’ embed code with a 640×385 thumbnail, for delivery via a low bandwidth connection.

Flash

The Flash embed code is going out of favour now – the iFrame embed code is preferable. This is because the Flash player is not available for mobile devices such as iPads and Android phones.
